For years I have been using the SRC system in my C3 helmet and for years I was a bit disappointed about the radio reception quality. Even FM stations that are nation wide available, were at many locations impossible to hear. The bluetooth integration with my iPhone was fine.
Now that I had to renew my good old C3 with a new one, my eye fell on the C3-Pro helmet, which has an integrated antenna for the SRCs and that should solve the problem of the bad radio signal reception, with a steep price tag.
Normally I ride between 30 and 40K km in a year and having radio that gives me traffic info is very convenient so I gave it a try. Now after a few month’s I can say that the radio reception has improved a lot. In regions where the older set had no reception at all, the Pro set does have a reception. Still it is not without extra noises and the quality still is not near that of a regular car radio set, I no longer switch the radio off.
To finish: if this set is worth the extra money is strictly personal. I prefer radio above playing from iTunes. I can’t say it’s a bargain but for me it is worth it.
